Celebrating our Kwandwe Community

At this time of year, we look back and celebrate everything that we have achieved together as a community here at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve with your incredible support and generosity.

“Take pride in how far you’ve come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey.”
Michael Josephson

Every year, the Mgcamabele Community centre at Kwandwe, hosts the end of year graduation for the children completing their final year of pre-school.

This year saw 7 children graduate much to everyone's delight and pride! Next year, these pupils move to primary school at Fort Brown, another important institution assisted by the Unbunye Foundation (founded by the owners of Kwandwe) who have provided significant improvements to the school. It's a very special moment for all of us to watch on as our young grow up and take the next steps, building on the strong foundation they have created here at Kwandwe.

In addition to the celebration of the graduates, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the reserve...

With many of the children who spend time at our community centre heading off to visit their grandparents and extended families during the school holidays, we celebrate a little early. The owners of Kwandwe throw a fun-filled Christmas party each year. Santa always seems able to make time in his busy pre-Christmas schedule to bestow gifts on close to 100 of Kwandwe's children in early December, much to their delight.

When you spend as much time working together in the African bush as we do, you become a close-nit family. For 15 years, these members of our team have passed on their knowledge, enthralled us with stories and crafted memorable stays for our guests.

A 3-course dinner was hosted by JP, our GM, at Melton Manor for this exceptional group of people where they were welcomed as guests to the place they have helped to create.

A heartfelt thank you to Bongani Mfecane (Banana), Danny Adonis, Bongi Tsotsa, Sheila Loteni, Bongi Nkontsa, Bongi Basi, Ntombozuko Jezile, Thelma Mdoko and Ntombozuko Mdoko for your dedication, warmth and loyalty.
