Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is located approximately 65 km from the east coast of South Africa, close to the renowned Garden Route, in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. The reserve is ideally located for both fly-in and self-drive safaris and is the perfect add-on to an itinerary featuring other destinations in South Africa (Cape Town and the Garden Route), or other Southern African countries.
There are two national airports close to Kwandwe: Port Elizabeth (PLS), 160km/100 miles away; and East London (ELZ), 185km/115 miles away.
There are daily scheduled flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg international airports to both Port Elizabeth and East London Airports, followed by either a 2-hour drive by road or a short helicopter flight to Kwandwe Private Game Reserve.

It is possible to drive to Kwandwe.
If self-driving, the distance from Port Elizabeth to Kwandwe is approximately 160 km (100 miles) and can be comfortably covered by road in an hour and 45 minutes. From East London to Kwandwe is 185 km (115 miles) and will take approximately 2 hours. The roads are in an excellent condition and a 2-wheel drive vehicle is sufficient for the journey. Self-drive guests can leave their vehicle in other car park at Heatherton Towers and will be transferred to their lodge by safari vehicle.
